  Green Innovation

With a sprawling campus spread across 8 acres in the residential neighborhood of Siglap, GIIS East Coast Campus sits in the lap of nature. The open and green spaces on campus allow students to interact with the environment. In order to encourage appreciation for nature and nurture environmental consciousness among children, GIIS East Coast Campus initiated theconcept of Green Innovation.

Implemented through a range of activities which are part of the campus' annual calendar, Green Innovation fosters novel thinking and promotes awareness among students about environmental issues. Some of the activities organised as part of this initiative include:

E-waste Drive

A special drive conducted to collect recyclable electronic waste, which would otherwise enter the waste stream. In April 2014, students collected 33 kilograms of e-waste as part of Earth Day activities.

No Plastic Bag Day

Every once a month, the entire campus observes a 'No-plastic Bag' Day as part of its drive to discourage the use of plastic among students. The success of this initiative lies in its simplicity, as the message of reducing the use of plastic reaches every child's home; thereby increasing awareness and conscious decision to reduce the use of plastic.

A unique concept which allows students to borrow and donate books at zero cost, thereby encouraging sharing and reducing wastage of books.

Energy Audit Workshop

Educative project-based workshops are organised to familiarise students with ways to conserve energy. Students are subsequently asked to monitor energy usage patterns at home, and adopt simple habits to save energy.

Quality Circles

Students are encouraged to study real-time issuesin their immediate environment, and provide feasible and sustainable solutions for implementation as part of a group-based project termed 'Quality Circles'. Each 'Quality Circle', or group, presents their understanding of the root-cause analysis of the problem and ways on how to improve upon the problem. The exercise encourages students to deliberate on unconventional means to solve real-time challenges

Herbal Garden

The herbal garden at GIIS East Coast Campus provides students an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with planting activities, as well as learning about exotic species of plants

Our Green Pledge

As a green citizen, I pledge my support in making our planet a better place, by striving my best to conserve energy, water and all natural resources, reduce all forms of wastage and protect flora and fauna of Mother Earth, by taking into account the social and environmental consequences of my actions.
