The Global Indian Awards have been instituted to recognise the undying commitment and performance excellence of GIIS teachers, students and staff. GIIS, the recipient of thirteen world-class awards for education excellence believes in recognising and rewarding its ‘Top-Gun team’ of star performers. Eminent guests, students, parents and teachers are invited on this event to honour our outstanding performers.  

Teachers at GIIS play a vital role by shaping a student’s future and leaving a lasting impression on the students in their care. As a tribute to their teachers, GSF has instituted several awards, including the Dr L M Singhvi GIIS Ambassador award (named after Dr LM Singhvi, Founding President of GSF), the Mahatma Gandhi GIIS Extra Mile award and the GIIS Long Service award. The awards acknowledge the teachers’ contribution and loyalty to the organisation, and recognise all those instances when they have gone that extra mile to make a difference in the life of students or positively impacted the running of the school. Many of the award recipients and teachers have been associated with GIIS for several years and have consistently supported the school and its students with dedication. The award recognises and honours their commitment.

The awards recognise the role played by the teacher, the instances when he/she has gone that extra mile to make a difference in the life of students or positively impacted the progress of the school.

GIIS student achievers are awarded prizes in three main categories – the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam GIIS award for academic proficiency, the GSF President’s award for all round excellence and the GIIS subject proficiency award. Among the students who walked up on the stage to receive the awards were the ones who rose through competition, toiled to reach the pinnacle in their respective levels and excelled among the best. For these stars, the recognition is a major motivating factor in their student lives.

Additional awards given to students included the Chandu Borde GIIS Award for sports excellence and the Justice CS Dharmadhikari GIIS award for co-curricular excellence. These fine achievers continue to forge ahead on their chosen path of excellence and blaze a trail of success. The programme includes performances especially choreographed for the awards evening by the dance teachers of the three campuses. This landmark celebration includes eminent guests, students, parents and teachers, who honour the outstanding performers. In the past, the school has had the opportunity of having Mr Baey Yam Keng, Member of Parliament, Singapore as the Guest of Honour and special guests like Prof S D Muni, Senior Research Fellow, Institute of South Asian Studies, Singapore, Dr V P Nair, President, Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), Mrs Smita Wargantiwar, GSF trustee and Mr Sudan Wargantiwar, Mr Kamal Gupta, CFO, Fonterra Group and Mr Puneet Pushkarna, Director, Headstrong, among others.
