Initiation of CBSE- i at GIIS Tokyo

Over 125 schools worldwide offer CBSE curriculum catering to the needs of the Indian diaspora settled in different countries. The students in these countries need a curriculum that is in line with the global trends and pedagogical patterns.

It is in this context that the CBSE initiated an international curriculum or CBSE- i. The board offered CBSE-i as a pilot project for 25 schools in 2010-11. GIIS Tokyo was selected as one of the pilot schools where CBSE-i was offered in Grade 1. For the academic year 2011-12 it has been offered in Grades 1 and 2.

It aims to promote critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills as well as information and media skills. There is an inbuilt flexibility as it provides a foundation and an extension of the curriculum in subject areas to cater to the different pace of learners.
