As Shakespeare most aptly puts it: the world is a stage! At GIIS, we provide our students with the stage where their imagination can take flight and mould them into different characters. This is a theatre module that aspires to nurture budding actors by providing the right opportunities and training to better their craft.
 

Emotions conveyed through theatre expressions can affect you in ways not experienced through literature or films. GIIS Creative Stage is a theatre module developed to provide would-be actors a platform to get trained in the art of theatre and acting.

For students, learning about stage productions is a trip to another planet. Ingenuity always abounds in the world of children with creation of imaginary characters and concocting scenarios as well as dialogues gives their voice a new motive. Within this illusory world, spectacular conflicts arise and get solved, leaving the young creators richer in confidence. Increasingly, drama is finding its way as a means to motivate children, engage them creatively and encourage emotional growth. Sir Ben Kingsley once said, “One of the greatest things drama can do, at its best, is to redefine the words we use every day such as love, home, family, loyalty and envy. Tragedy need not be a downer.” The introduction of theatre experience by GIIS is the first step towards developing the creative aspects of students.

Students attend a theatre workshop and train with GIIS Speech and drama teachers in various aspects of theatre during the GIIS Creative Stage module. They also attend plays with teachers and interact with professional stage actors. In the final part of the module, they prepare and present on stage a play complete with stage sets, costumes, music and lights.
